Maranatha Camp mural
Yandina, Qld
Sarah Sculley reached out to a bunch of artists she knew to help brighten up Maranatha Camp in Yandina, I was lucky enough to be one of them. This is the type of camp that kids might visit during school term for team building exercises with their grade peers. Think multiple long dormitory buildings, group canteens, and heaps of space for organised outdoor activities.
This wall is the end of the boys dorm, so we decided a quote from Peter Pan would work well here. Sarah and I collaborated on this wall, she had already painted the background before I arrived. She also helped me out by delivering some chalk to me (which I forgot to pack) and by leaving her awesome pink step ladder for me to use.
I painted this over the weekend, so some friends joined me too. We stayed in the dorms, and it was nice to warm up at the firepit overnight. Unfortunately we couldn’t play on the low ropes or high ropes courses - when do you ever get the chance to do that stuff as an adult? And in case you were wondering, I never was strong enough to draw my friend’s compound bow back fully.
