Jungle Love festival mural

Imbil, Qld

It was so exciting when I found out I was chosen to paint a mural at Jungle Love festival. This was the second time that Jungle Love had invited me along, and I had much more grand plans than the previous time I’d painted there. I had a bigger group of friends attending this year too - and I did not account for the effect that FOMO would ultimately have on me.

I sketched this art out while on a flight back from Japan. Who knows where the words come from for my pieces, often their origin is obscure even to me. Perhaps I was even convincing myself that I was able and worthy to be painting a mural, this mural being one of my early opportunities.

Part of the fun of painting at a music festival are the characters who would come and check out what I was doing

Initially I had a different idea for the background of this one. I pivoted away from it quite early on, as I could see it was going to take a lot of time - and that was time I would have to spend away from my friends who were all having fun without me (at least, that's how it seemed to me)! And neither did I execute the colouring of the lettering as I had first planned... but look, all unexpected distractions aside, I am ultimately proud of what I was able to create.

This is my good friend Eesh being an absolute pest!
