Big Blocks
Big block letters and big blocks of type made of big block letters. Basic themes that I visit a lot in my work. It was fun to play with the classic juxtaposition of hard and soft when making Rage. Flowers are not motifs I use often in my work, but I wanted to make such an angry word as soft as possible.
Fun fact (or not): Those wireframes are the complete last working file I have of that Hell Hath No artwork. The file corrupted so badly thanks to all those anchor points and gradients, that I had to return to an earlier version of it from three months prior.
Breaking up one word and organising it into a rectangle split horizontally by jaunty angled lines is an effect not positively applied to all words. Even this one, I have some bones to pick with. Why did I choose a word that ends with a ‘T’ - it’s cutting an ugly bite out of the corner there.
Still, this is fun bespoke lettering. I think I have done very well to make it appear as a skewed typeface here.
